How to Measure Curtains
Getting the width, height and mounting type right is the first step to the perfect curtain. Follow the steps below, or let our team measure for you (Edirne Merkez only).
Width
Measure the length of the track or pole itself — not the window frame. Mounting hardware is usually wider than the window.
For sheer and lined curtains, allow extra fabric for fullness: fabric width is typically 2 to 2.5 times the length of the pole, so the curtain hangs full and gathered.
To block light effectively, the pole should extend at least 10–15 cm beyond the window frame on each side.
Height
Measure from the bottom of the pole or track to where you want the curtain to end — touching the floor, hovering 1–2 cm above it, or sitting at sill length.
Account for the hanging allowance of rings or track hooks, and remember that fabric can shrink slightly after sewing.
Mounting Type
Wall mounting: the pole is fixed directly to the wall for a classic, sturdy look.
Ceiling mounting: the track is fixed to the ceiling, which makes curtains hang taller and rooms feel more spacious, especially with lower ceilings.
If you're using a pelmet or curtain box, include its own dimensions in your width and height calculations.
